Originally from India. Holds a Degree in Engineering and PG in IT & Management. She joined the charity in 2003 the longest standing member of WCF staff, with extensive experience in office, HR & IT management and also gained a wealth of experience in fundraising & grant making processes, project planning, management, monitoring & evaluation. Project Manager for Healthy Body Healthy Mind Project and leads on communications & social media

Mei is of Chinese heritage, has worked at WCF since 2010. Overseeing all financial and statutory duties. Taking an active part in preparing budgets for grant applications.

Project Manager

Originally from Lebanon. A Business Management graduate. Project Manager for Golden Years – Let’s Age Well, Wales World Café, Together We Can and Advice & Advocacy projects , she is a qualified advisor and counsellor, she provides 1:2:1 advice services sensitive to the cultural needs of our beneficiaries.

SHAHIEN TAJ

Policy & Influencing Officer

Shahien Taj OBE is of Pakistani heritage, born and raised in Wales. Shahien has experience of working in the private, public and charity sector. She has a background in community development and action research projects, Race Equality & Social Justice with a specialist knowledge around the socio-cultural pressures and conflicts faced by victims of domestic violence, forced marriage and so-called ‘honour’ related abuse and violence. Shahien has been with Women Connect First since April this year and works part-time as a Community Engagement officer with the ReAD –Hate Crime Project

ALEXANDREA CABRERA

Senior Administrative officer

Is from a Filipino Background and a Psychology Graduate. Whilst in university she volunteered in various activities from Half marathons to community involvement, she is very passionate in helping others and believes in reducing discrimination & gender inequalities. She Joined WCF in October 2020 as a admin & finance assistant and aids in administrative duties and plays an active role in helping wherever she can. Although she’s is a recent she brings with her a lot of experience with vulnerable people and BAME community.

MILDRED FOSTER

Project Coordinator – Carbon Monoxide Awareness Project

Born in Mexico, Mildred has a PhD in Immunology. She has a wealth of experience in biomedical research and patient and public involvement in healthcare. She joined Women Connect First in December 2022. Sharing her expertise, Mildred is a Researcher in the Advice and Advocacy team. She also coordinates a project on Vulnerability and Carbon Monoxide Awareness in the community.

Advice & Advocacy Officer

Hailing from India, M.Ali can communicate in many South Asian languages and is our Advice & Advocacy Officer at Women Connect First. A healthcare professional with a master’s degree from Cardiff University, M Ali has several years of experience working in the public and private sector within a primary and secondary care setting. Having lived in many countries, she has a good understanding of different cultures and enjoys working for the community, helping people, being there and making a positive difference in their lives.

Outreach & Admin Officer

Originally from Jordan, Nada has an Accountancy and Business diploma as well as skills in food and nutrition, safeguarding, first aid and teaching Arabic. Nada started as a volunteer at Women Connect First in 2016 and as of March 2022 is our Admin Outreach Officer for the Let’s Age Well project. Active in the community, Nada believes that all women around the world should exercise their right to be heard to aid current and future generations.

Born in the Caribbean on the Island of Nevis, Jackie has worked with children and young people for many years and has overseen the childcare in WCF since 2019. She is a qualified caterer and adult tutor teaching Playwork and other childcare related subjects.

Zoila

ZOILA GARMAN

Originally from the Dominican Republic, Zoila is energetic and professional. Holding a Level 4 distinction in Wellbeing, Business Mentoring & Coaching, as well as a Level 3 in Social media and Filming, her dynamic portfolio extends to TV, Radio, and Social Media, fervently promoting mental health and wellbeing awareness.

An advocate for change, she actively empowers fellow women and underrepresented individuals to overcome limiting beliefs. Zoila’s ethos thrives on eradicating discrimination and gender disparities. Amplifying her impact in society, her mission is to use the different ways of communication to uplift the BAME community and marginalized groups to create a more fulfilling society for everyone.
