Together We Can

Women Connect First has received the Coronavirus Mental Health Response Fund: Wales, as part of a programme that aims to help Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) organisations based in England continue to provide mental health services during this pandemic in Cardiff and surrounding areas. Mind is administering the fund in partnership with the Mental Health Consortia, who represent the leading mental health organisations in England.

The programme is part of the Government’s £750m charity support package and is supported by Comic Relief and the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS).

Our Together We Can project aims to engage with and support BAME women and their families to address identified mental health issues experienced during the Covid-19 pandemic.

This will be achieved through the delivery of a range of awareness training and well-being sessions. These will be provided remotely in a highly relaxed and confidential atmosphere to help participants feel safe and confident to open up and talk about their experiences.

Each activity will be tailored to the needs and age of the participants and will focus on tackling a range of different issues.

Activities will include: Talking, self-acceptance and sleep therapies, mindfulness and emotional resilience, good parenting for teenagers, inter-generational chat sessions along with cooking, gardening and social events.
